Come join Pack 44 for our annual open house night on Tuesday October 2nd at 6:30pm. We’ll have games, snacks, a pinewood derby race, and plenty of fun things to do. This will also give you and your child a chance to meet our scouts and talk to our leaders. At 44 we are all about our scouts and their families. Our main goal as a pack is to enrich the lives of our kids and reinforce values such as character, responsibility, honesty, and team building. In addition to our den and pack meetings we do a ton of pack outings like our Cub Master Camp outs, pack rocket launch, and pinewood derby.
Pack 44 has been part of the Newfane community for over 50 years and is the ONLY Cub Scout pack based in the village of Newfane. As a result, we are focused on volunteer community service, specifically in the Newfane community. For instance, our scouting for food program donates over 2000 food items every year to the Newfane food bank. These are food items collected door to door by our scouts. We also work closely with the Newfane Elementary School and PTSA by providing activities for events like the spring open house. We set up our 40 ft pine wood derby track in the front hallway and let the kids race derby cars. We also provide free color guard and flag ceremonies to several Newfane organizations like the Newfane historical society. Last year we donated and installed a new flag pole rope and pulley system for their homestead site on West Creek Road. Several of our leaders including myself are heavily invested in community service outside of Cub Scouts. We coach for Newfane Baseball, help with field & equipment & coach for Newfane soccer, coach for Olcott Hockey, help with Newfane Youth Football, and we’re parent leaders in Boy Scout Troop 22 (also based in Newfane) so you might already know us. Check out our complete list of community service items and pack activities on the Pack Activities link under the menu to the left. We like to do as much as we can for Newfane and have fun along the way.
In addition to our community, we are also focused on the needs of our scouts and their families. We work with the Newfane Lions Club to sponsor scouts in our pack that need financial assistance for summer camp. We also do fund raising events throughout the year like our annual pancake breakfast, spaghetti dinner, and Lions Club Chicken barbecue. Our kids love being servers for these events, not only is it a lot of fun but it teaches them responsibility at the same time. Our goal is that no scout will ever be left out of an activity or camping trip for financial reasons.
We are conveniently located in the village of Newfane at the United Methodist Church, right on the corner of Main St and East Ave. If you live in the village you can probably walk to our meetings. If not, it’s a short drive, which is huge in the middle of January. We have Den meetings every Tuesday evening at 6:30pm. If your child is interested, but can’t come to the open house just give us a call, shoot us an email (cubpack44@yahoo.com), or come to a den meeting.
If you live in the Newfane community check out Cub Scout Pack 44 located in the village of Newfane. At Pack 44 our motto is, do the right thing, do whatever it takes, and have fun!
Hope to see you there!
